Alert for Permit Holders in lots 16, 17, 18, 19

November 16, 2009 by uwtransservices

The WIAA Football Tournament will be taking place this Thursday (11/19) and Friday (11/20).  To accommodate parking needs for the tournament, which will be held at Camp Randall Stadium, Lots 17, 18, and 19 will be used by WIAA officials, media and staff as well as for disabled parking.

Lot 16, 17, 18, and 19 permit holders have the option of avoiding the extra congestion by parking in an alternate lot on 11/19 and 11/20.  Permit holders from lots 17, 18, and 19 may choose to park in lots 20, 34, 36, 41, 62, 76, or 8 during WIAA Football by simply displaying their lot 17 permit.  For a map of lot locations, view the campus map.

Although relocating is not required, we appreciate those customers who choose to use an alternate lot as it will help us manage WIAA guest parking.  For information on the importance of visitor and special events parking, click here.

As a reminder, the free campus bus (Route 80) is a convenient resource for intra-campus travel.  If you would like assistance using the bus, contact UW Commuter Solutions at tdm@fpm.wisc.edu.

As always, we are trying to balance the needs of our permit holders with other parking demands. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that you will find these alternatives suitable for your needs. If you would like additional information, please email our office at customerservice@fpm.wisc.edu .

UWPD touches on Mopeds, Bikes

November 11, 2009 by uwtransservices

UWPD touched on two popular modes of transportation in their November issue of Badger Beat.  We’re eager to pass the info on to promote these messages of moped safety and bicycle theft prevention.

Also, we hope you’ll come visit us at this year’s Badger Watch Safety Conference–UWTS will be tabling along with many other campus groups with a focus on safety.  See you there!

Winter Parking Rules In Effect Nov 15

November 11, 2009 by uwtransservices

Now we don’t want to jinx the lovely weather we’ve been enjoying, but the calendar doesn’t lie–it’s time for winter parking rules to take effect.

Each year from November 15-March 15 the university asks for your cooperation so that we may keep the streets and sidewalks clear of snow and ice.

Please adhere to the following winter parking rules beginning on Sunday, November 15:

  • No parking on Observatory Drive or Linden Drive between 2 AM and 6 AM
  • Restricted parking in lots 16, 32, 34, 40, and 51 E:  Please park in designated rows–look for the “Shovelin’ Bucky” signs
  • If all designated 2 AM – 6 AM rows are full, park inside Ramp 17, Ramp 20, or Ramp 36
  • Do not park on the top level of these ramps, and remember to move your vehicle to your designated lot before 7 AM

Due to the fact that these rules are in effect from 2 AM – 6 AM, they are particularly impactful for third shift employees and students who park on campus overnight.  We ask for your assistance in spreading the word to these groups of people–visit www.wisc.edu/trans/winter_weather.asp for printer friendly PDFs that can be posted wherever appropriate to help inform your peers, employees, and students.

If you have any questions, please visit our website, or contact Patrick Litza at plitza@fpm.wisc.edu
